Hello everyone, I wanted to make a quick post letting you know that, as of this post, you will not be receiving emails automatically whenever there is a new post/content on the site, for now. The reason for this is that a big player in the WordPress game has decided to get ridiculously greedy and is forcing many people, myself included, to remove their plugins from our site(s). WordPress used to be a welcoming community with awesome developers and so on, but now it’s falling apart. I will be making a more detailed post about this soon, however as stated already, unless I find an alternative to Jetpack, features such as automated emails, post likes, and so on will be unavailable. I urge you to read the reviews regarding Jetpack and general WordPress news as it’s becoming really sad and slimy all around. I will quote a review that was left by another user below:
I got a notification today that Jetpack has changed it’s pricing, and they think I will pay them $11/month for each of my websites – with some kind of veiled threat about not following pricing I didn’t even know they rolled out? The entire wordpress platform is going crazy. The uncomfortable tweets, attacking businesses by some guy named Matt, things like elementor fragmenting the ecosystem, every plugin having pop-ups everywhere, microsubscriptions stuffed into every corner of wordpress… Apparently now the Jetpack team for some reason wanted in on this action and rolled out new licensing and applied it to all it’s business users without us agreeing to or saying yes to it and sending some kind payment demand emails as if we care about any of this.
I feel like the entire organization is going crazy.
I am happily removing this from every website we have. One less bloated pop-up and subscription infected plugin. Thanks for the email reminding me this plugin was even active on our websites.
