YouTube is once again messing with the subscription box. YouTube has been caught experimenting with the YouTube subscriptions feed, and they don’t think they’re doing anything wrong. Everyone knows the YouTube subscription feed has been a glitchy piece of work for a long time. So instead of fixing the issues that it has, it seems like they’re going to change it up. Mostly what they’re saying is that an algorithm will determine what content shows up before the rest of it even if the content is older than the newer content that was just uploaded. This completely defeats the purpose of a subscription box because someone could be seeing content that was uploaded a few weeks ago compared to content that is pushed down to the bottom or not shown at all that was literally just uploaded. YouTube is definitely pissing off a lot of their creators with this experimentation. You would think they would get it and just fixed the pre-existing sub box issue but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

“We are currently experimenting with how to show content in the subs feed,” a YouTube representative said on Twitter. “We find that some viewers are able to more easily find the videos they want to watch when we order the subs feed in a personalized order vs always showing most recent video first.”
